Client: Indiana Design Center
The Backstory: Bringing Design to Life
The new Indiana Design Center is home to designer showrooms, retail and trade-only vendors. Located in the Carmel Arts District, it is open to designers and the public, and offers a designer-on-call service. The IDC website needed to be as high caliber as the clients it serves, while remaining functional enough for the public to browse and the IDC’s internal marketing team to maintain. It also had to be an extension of its branding to invoke the appropriate sense of creativity and ingenuity that live and breathe at the IDC.
Silver Square Action: Website Design and Creation
We created a customized site on the WordPress platform that provides all the aesthetics and functionality needed for the IDC. Because of the cooperative nature of the building, it was important for us to consider all of the vendors and businesses in the creation of the site. For example, we ensured that the homepage featured a different vendor on a rotational basis, and we customized the search feature to rank the results in a specialized manner. The finished product is a perfect example of an advanced site that is still maintainable by users who don’t know a thing about the back-end technical details.
Silver Square Action: Branding
To attract both the public and designers to the Indiana Design Center, we introduced the tagline, “Discover What’s Inside.” Our goal was to further the mission of The Design Center and direct readers to act on their design needs. And, of course, the tagline works perfectly for both driving traffic to the website and the actually Design Center.
