Clay Mabbitt and I had the pleasure of attending The Gospel According to James at the Indiana Repertory Theatre Saturday night. It’s a play that’s not to be missed. I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience this story via theatre.

The setting is 1930 and the story is true: The Marion, Indiana racial crimes and lynching from the perspective of two survivors. Each of them remember the evening in a completely different way. It was so different, in fact, I am still thinking of this play and the impact it had on me. It was a powerful, talented cast that made this story literally come to life on stage.
I’m also proud that this theatre is willing to continue to look for and spotlight Indiana playwriters and stories. I’ve now got the IRT bug and plan to go back again… coming up next is The 39 Steps, but you can catch The Gospel until April 10th.
