Think before you speak

Here is some vital PR advice from me to you: think before you speak.

I mention this obvious tip as the news breaks that Mark Wahlberg gave an interview to the Men’s Journal and in it speaks about 9/11 and how he could have made a difference if he were on one of the planes.

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.”

The subject isn’t completely out of left field as he was originally scheduled to be on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center. (He cancelled his ticket and actually flew to his destination a week early.) Not surprisingly, however, his comment is now flying around the news outlets and Twitterverse, and people are not appreciative of his opinion.

Not smart Marky Mark, not smart at all. If you are like me and like to learn from pop culture examples, check out this Forbes article about other PR lessons you can learn from celebrities.

***Welp, before I could even post this blog, Wahlberg apologized for his comments. Lesson learned?
