We could all use an Innovation Fund

This weekend Butler University announced the Butler Innovation Fund; a new fund that exists to help the Butler community carry out innovative, creative and worthwhile ideas. President Danko made the announcement at his gala and then to the entire Butler community through an email. Here is a brief explanation of the initiative for the Butler Innovation Fund:

“When someone in the Butler community has a well-thought-out idea and is willing to work toward the execution of that idea, and it makes sense for our students and our University, this fund will allow us to make it happen.”  - President Danko

I think this is a great direction for Butler and a model for other businesses and organizations to consider. Many organizations have training funds, education funds, and yes, probably some with innovation and idea funds, but not many of us. As the leader of a firm that delivers idea-powered marketing, I think the idea fund is something everyone should have! If you’re truly active in your quest to be innovative, foster ideas and work to make your organization a better place or experience, why not have money set aside to help you carry out that vision? This fund says Butler is serious about their vision and want to foster a creative and innovative community. It’s just one more reason I’m proud to be a Bulldog (so yeah, totally biased on this blog post).
